Celebrate the season during the Saybrook Starlight Festival, a day of festivities and fun activities to kick off the holidays! This year make it a weekend and watch the Heroes Tree Lighting on December 5th and enjoy specials at participating restaurants Friday and Saturday.

The Hero Tree Lighting at The Kate
Sponsored by the Gold Star Moms, join us in front of the Kate for a special holiday ceremony honoring veterans and service members. With Lisa Carberg from WTNH Channel 8 and local dignitaries.

Local Shopping with Extended Store Hours
Shop local and support our Main Street businesses. They are decorated, stocked and ready with holiday cheer!
Starlight Restaurant Specials & Live Entertainment
Visit one (or more!) of our many wonderful restaurants who will be offering up Starlight Specials. Have a bite to eat, a Starlight beverage or listen to a little live music. This year most specials are available Friday and Saturday. See below for participating venues and details.
Greater Old Saybrook Chamber Stocking Walk
Purchase a stocking for $5 at the Greater Old Saybrook Chamber office at 1 Main Street starting at 10:00 am. Bring it to participating Main Street businesses who will fill it with merry little treats and gifts. Only 250 will be sold! (150 pre-sales available 12/4-12/5.) Ornament Decorating at Parks & Recreation
Children can make a fun keepsake of the holiday season to decorate the Christmas tree. Ages 3-10 years old. Register here.
Senior Strings
Our own local mature musicians perform songs of the season accompanied by ukulele, guitar and flute.
Horse-drawn Wagon Rides
Enjoy a journey down our festively decorated Main Street with this classic winter experience brought to you by Allegra Farms! Pick-up and drop-off at the Town Green (302 Main Street).
Family Fun on the Town Green
* Crafts and a scavenger hunt with Acton Public Library.
* Facepainting and games by Youth & Family Services.
* Decorate holiday cards for service members sponsored by the Blue Star Moms.
* Holiday inflatables walk.
* Old Saybrook Garden Club holiday greens table - kids and adults are welcome to make something special with our local greenery experts.
* Lighted wooden stars for sale from the Lions Club.
* Win one of two family 4-packs to see I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas at the Kate on December 7th. Visit the Youth & Family Services table to enter.
* Visit the Starlight Café on the Kate patio and enjoy FREE hot chocolate courtesy of the Lions Club. Enjoy other treats for sale.
Starlight Café
Featuring seating on the Kate patio, enjoy FREE hot chocolate courtesy of the Lions Club and popcorn for sale. Purchase chili from the Mason's and cookies from Youth & Family Services to benefit the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries. The Knights of Columbus will serve hot beignets. NEW Food trucks: Frank Andrews Mobile Kitchen (pizza) and Dude's Donuts. YUM!!
Visit from Santa at Town Gazebo
Santa arrives in Old Saybrook’s version of a sleigh courtesy of the Fire Department. Meet the most famous jolly old elf at the town gazebo on the Town Green. Volunteers will be available to snap a family photo.
Astra Studio & Glitter Girls Dance Performances
Join us in front of Town Hall for Starlight entertainment as our local dance troupes moves to the melodies of the season. Astra Dance performs at 1:45 & 2:30 pm; Glitter Girls perform at 3:30 pm.
Carolers on Main Street
Enjoy Christmas and Hanukkah selections by the Connecticut Yuletide Carolers as these wandering warblers croon their way up and down Main Street in Victorian-period garb.
